Massachusetts Area BFRB Support Group
WHO WE ARE
This monthly, virtual support group is for adults with Body Focused Repetitive Behaviors (BFRBs) such as compulsive hair pulling (trichotillomania), skin picking (excoriation), and nail-biting disorders. It's a peer-led, self-help support group (no therapist present), where we discuss our experiences with our BFRBs, share tricks, and support each other in a confidential, non-judgmental environment. The format is casual and friendly. Our group is intended to connect people with BFRBs in the Massachusetts area but the online meetings are open to anyone with a BFRB. Currently, all groups are held in English. Originally, this group was called the Montreal BFRB group because that's where I (Olivia) lived :) French-language resources available upon request!
FAQ
Do I need to pay?
Nope! You can join all our groups via zoom for free.
Are cameras required?
Usually yes, but let Olivia know if this is a barrier.
Can I miss a group?
Yes of course. We're drop in group. Come when you can :)
Can I bring a support person?
Yes!
Can I just listen in?
Yes! Just let Olivia know.
Are all ages welcome?
Teens can join with parental approval.

Resources
The TLC Foundation, which had been the major hub for BFRB resources, is being wrapped into the OCD Foundation. At this point helpful information can be found on both sites. HabitAware, which sells vibrating bracelets, also has a resource hub and free support groups through "BFRB Changemakers". The BFRB Foundation is another new group building up resources for folks. Below, you can find a collection of crowd-sourced tips & tricks, divided into the four domains set out in the book Overcoming Body Focused Repetitive Behaviors. This group is not affiliated with the book or its authors but we do recommend it frequently.
